Description
Tribus was founded in 2020 by Christopher Ward’s three sons and launched with a single case design and a small number of distinctive Swiss‑made models. Although the brand ceased trading in 2022 after failing to gain sufficient traction, it continues to maintain a good reputation, particularly among Christopher Ward enthusiasts who retain a great deal of warmth towards the CW story and its wider family connections.
The watch itself is the TRIBUS TRI‑02 GMT 3 Timezone COSC, the brand’s most technically ambitious model. Designed around an aviation‑inspired layout, it uses a central GMT hand in combination with an internal 24‑hour ring to track three timezones. The case is Swiss‑made with twin screw‑down crowns, one for setting the time and the other for operating the internal bezel. Power comes from a chronometer‑certified Sellita SW330 automatic movement, visible through an exhibition caseback, reinforcing TRIBUS’ emphasis on high specification and mechanical credibility from the outset. While the brand’s lifespan was short, the TRI‑02 GMT remains well‑regarded for offering genuine multi‑timezone functionality, COSC certification and Swiss construction at a price point that now feels particularly compelling on the secondary market.
