Description

Vertex is one of the original members of the so-called "Dirty Dozen", the twelve manufacturers commissioned by the British Ministry of Defence to supply watches during the Second World War. While the modern company is a revival of the original brand, it has been careful to build on that history rather than simply trade on it. As a result, today's Vertex watches feel less like reissues and more like contemporary interpretations of military tool watches.

The M100B/36 Bronze takes the core Vertex formula and shrinks it to a more compact 36mm case. The result is a watch that retains all the legibility and practicality of the larger M100 models, but in a size that is particularly well suited to smaller and medium-sized wrists. The broad Arabic numerals, highly legible dial and distinctive red marker at 12 o'clock remain instantly recognisable, preserving the military character that defines the range.

What makes this version stand out is the bronze case. Unlike steel, bronze develops a patina over time, gradually taking on a character unique to its owner and environment. Combined with the black dial and vintage-inspired styling, it gives the watch a warmth and individuality that suits the military-inspired design surprisingly well.

Inside is a Swiss automatic movement, protected by a robust case built for everyday wear rather than occasional use. Like the best Vertex watches, the appeal lies not in unnecessary complications or attention-seeking design, but in doing the fundamentals exceptionally well. Simple, highly legible and full of character, it is a modern field watch that remains true to its roots.
