Description
Clemence is a small British brand founded in 2022 and the Munro is its second watch. The name comes from the Scottish term for mountains over 3,000 feet, which fits the design and the thinking behind it. It’s meant to be a straightforward field watch, something you can wear every day without thinking too much about it.
The proportions are spot on at 37.5mm with a short lug to lug, and the boxed sapphire gives it a bit more presence than the numbers suggest. It wears slightly bigger than it reads, but still sits easily on the wrist.
The dial is the main thing, especially in the Ridgeline version. The different colour segments are meant to reflect the slopes of a Scottish landscape, with the layout loosely tied to avalanche patterns. It’s not subtle, and it won’t be for everyone, but it’s been thought through. Even the hour hand picks that up with the mountain tip, which could have been gimmicky but is a great quirky feature.
Everything else is kept simple. Applied numerals, decent lume, no unnecessary detail. The case finishing is good, the proportions are right, and the Miyota movement does the job.
Condition and performance
The watch is in excellent condition with only minor signs of careful use.
Supplied on an bracelet with no-tool microadjust in very good condition with all links.
Comes boxed with papers and strap tool.
Regulated by Clemence in 3 positions to an accuracy of +/- 12 seconds per day, it’s running at way better than that, almost perfect.
