Description
Paulin is a Glasgow‑based independent brand originally founded in 2013, and now operating alongside anOrdain following its acquisition in 2023. While the two share facilities, they take very different approaches. where anOrdain focuses on enamel and traditional craft, Paulin leans much more into graphic design and contemporary watchmaking.
The Modul is the clearest expression of that. The case is built around a modular construction, where the inner body that houses the movement sits inside a separate outer case, fixed in place by screws. It’s a simple idea but one that gives the watch a distinct look.
The case itself is tonneau‑shaped with a mix of brushed and polished finishes, and wears slim at just over 8mm thick. The boxed sapphire helps open up the dial slightly and gives it a bit more presence without adding bulk.
The dial and hands follow the same design‑led approach. Clean layout, strong colour choices and hand‑applied lume rather than anything overly technical. It’s deliberately graphic rather than traditional.
Power comes from an ETA 7001 manual movement. It’s a thin, reliable calibre that suits the watch well and helps keep the case profile under control. Finishing is visible through the caseback, with Geneva stripes and blued screws adding a bit of interest without overcomplicating things.
It’s not a traditional watch - built around design first, but with Swiss mechanical substance behind it to back it up.

The watch is in excellent condition with only minor signs of careful use.
