Description

Bremont was founded in 2002 by brothers Nick and Giles English. The name comes from a French farmer called Antoine Bremont who helped them after an emergency landing while flying a vintage aircraft in France, a story that reflects the brand’s long association with aviation. From the outset, Bremont positioned itself at the premium end of the market, focusing on robust well engineered watches with strong aviation and military links. This watch predates the 2023 investment and the changes that followed and sits firmly in the Bremont most people recognise — the English brothers’ version of the brand.

I’ve had a Broadsword in my own collection for a while and it gave me a proper appreciation for what Bremont do well. The build quality, the finishing and especially the case work are a step above what you might expect at this level. The Trip‑Tick case is a big part of that. Splitting the case into multiple components isn’t just a talking point — it gives the watch real depth and presence, and it also wears well over time. It’s a shame that they’ve moved away from it on newer models, as it’s one of the things that really made Bremont feel different.

The Supermarine line is their dive range, and the S300 is the easier‑going version of it. At 40mm it avoids the bulk of the larger models and just sits properly on the wrist. The white dial gives it a cleaner look than the more common darker variants, and the applied wing logo is a detail I’ve always liked — it adds a bit of character without getting in the way.

Power comes from a COSC‑certified automatic movement and with 300m water resistance it’s more than capable as a diver, even if most of its life will be spent well above the waterline.

It’s a well judged watch. Nothing overly clever, just done properly.
