Description
Elliot Brown was founded by the former management team behind Animal watches, which will ring a bell if you grew up in the 80s and 90s. I certainly remember them from windsurfing as a teenager, when they developed the fabric/velcro strap and were “the watch” to have. The brand has taken that same “built to be used” mindset and pushed it much further, focusing almost entirely on durability and real‑world performance.
I’ve had a few Elliot Browns over the years and have a Tyneham in my own collection for the rough stuff - mountain biking and the occasional surfing trip. They are very straightforward watches in the best possible way — tough, reliable and not something you need to think twice about wearing.
The Beachmaster Professional sits at the top of that range. It was developed over several years and built around a specific use case, originally linked to a Royal Marines event. The internal split‑scale bezel, controlled via the upper crown, allows countdown and mission‑style timing alongside a standard countdown dive bezel. It’s not the simplest system at first glance, but it’s well thought through.
Power comes from a Swiss quartz GMT movement in a straightforward caller configuration. Beyond that, everything is focused on durability: 300m water resistance, reinforced case construction and screwed lug bars rather than spring bars. It feels built to avoid failure rather than add features.
The dial carries a lot of information but is logically arranged. Once you understand it, it works.
Condition and performance
The watch is in excellent condition with only minor signs of careful use.
