Marloe Watch Company is a British brand founded in 2015 by Oliver Goffe and Gordon Fraser originally based in Marlow Buckinghamshire and now assembling watches in‑house in Oxfordshire. Both founders came from creative design backgrounds rather than traditional horology but shared a frustration with modern watches that looked premium on the outside and felt hollow once opened. Marloe’s signature is “Time Well Spent”, a motto that underpins the brand’s approach to watchmaking.

The Sceptre is a clear shift from Marloe’s earlier designs. Instead of leaning on heritage references, it takes its cues from industrial design and architecture. The case has a slightly brutalist feel to it, all sharp lines, flat surfaces and hard transitions rather than curves. It looks engineered rather than styled, which is a nice change from the usual microbrand approach.
The dial follows that same thinking. It’s laid out like an instrument panel more than a traditional watch, with clear separation of elements and just enough detail to keep it interesting without becoming messy. It feels deliberate rather than decorative, which suits the case.
Inside is the Miyota 9039 automatic. It’s a no‑date movement which keeps the dial clean and does the job without fuss.
Condition and performance
The watch is in very good condition with visible but light signs of wear. The polished surface does tend to pick up light micro scratches.
Supplied on a Marloe rubber strap in great condition. Also comes with a bracelet.
Comes boxed with owner’s manual, invoice and registration card.
