SH042 Tissot Seastar Powermatic 80 40mm dive watch (undated)

£475.00

Quick facts

Description

Tissot sits in that space where you get proper Swiss watchmaking without the usual noise around it. The Seastar is their dive offering and has been around for a while in various forms, but the Powermatic 80 versions are where it really starts to make sense as a modern everyday diver.

This is the blue version with the ombré, slightly distressed dial, and it’s the standout feature. It’s not a flat colour at all — it shifts from a lighter centre to a darker edge and has a bit of texture to it, which lifts the whole watch. It’s one of those dials that looks better in real life than it does in stock images.

On the wrist, it wears better than the numbers suggest. It’s listed at 40mm, which is a good size for most wrists, and the overall package feels balanced without trying to do anything clever. The case and bezel are straightforward, the layout is clean and everything is where you expect it to be.

Power comes from Tissot’s Powermatic 80 movement, which is widely used across the Swatch Group and gives a long power reserve with no fuss. It does the job and doesn’t need thinking about.
