Description
Tudor sits firmly in the premium end of the market and doesn’t need much introduction. The Black Bay 58 has become one of its most successful models because it gets the fundamentals right — size, proportions and build. There’s nothing especially clever about it, it’s just well executed.
I’ve had a couple of these over the years, including the black and this blue version at the same time. They are very easy watches to get on with. For me, the blue is the one that stuck. The colour is properly judged — not bright, not flat, just a deep blue that changes slightly depending on the light. It reminds me of being on the water years ago, that same kind of shifting tone that looks different from one moment to the next.
On the wrist, it lands exactly where it should. At 39mm it suits most wrists and the thickness is kept under control. Nothing feels oversized or forced. The dial is clear, the bracelet is solid and the watch disappears when you want it to, which is usually a good sign.
It’s not trying to be anything beyond a well made dive watch, and that’s why it works so well
