Description
Elliot Brown was founded by the former management team behind Animal watches, which will ring a bell if you grew up in the 80s and 90s. I certainly remember them from windsurfing as a teenager, when they developed the fabric/velcro strap and were “the watch” to have. The brand has taken that same “built to be used” mindset and pushed it much further, focusing almost entirely on durability and real‑world performance.
I’ve had a few Elliot Browns over the years and have a Tyneham in my own collection for the rough stuff - mountain biking and the occasional surfing trip. They are very straightforward watches in the best possible way — tough, reliable and not something you need to think twice about wearing.
The Holton Professional was developed to meet demanding military requirements, it strips away anything unnecessary and focuses on clarity, robustness and ease of use. The design is simple and highly legible, with a clean dial, substantial hands and a conventional timing bezel that can be operated easily in poor conditions or while wearing gloves.
Power comes from a Swiss quartz movement and, as with most Elliot Brown watches, the emphasis is on reliability rather than complexity. The stainless steel case is heavily over-engineered, water resistance is ample for any realistic use and details such as screwed lug bars reflect the company's preference for practical solutions over marketing features.
On the wrist, the Holton feels purposeful rather than refined. Everything about it suggests a watch designed to withstand hard use rather than impress in a display case. It is uncomplicated, well executed and entirely comfortable with the role it was built to perform.

The watch is in very good condition with only minor signs of careful use.
