Evant is one of those enthusiast-led microbrands that briefly appeared at exactly the right moment. Founded in Singapore, the brand built a reputation for offering vintage-inspired dive watches with specifications and finishing that comfortably exceeded expectations at the price point. While the market is now crowded with independent dive-watch brands, Evant was an early participant in that movement and developed a loyal following among collectors looking for something a little different.
This is the Evant Tropic Diver Fumé Blue Limited Edition, a model limited to just 300 pieces worldwide and sold exclusively through Gnomon Watches. With an original retail price of just $499 USD, it represented exceptional value even when new. More importantly, it showcased Evant's ability to combine classic dive-watch design with thoughtful detailing normally found on considerably more expensive watches.
The highlight is undoubtedly the fumé blue dial. Finished with a sunburst effect, it transitions from a vivid ocean blue at its centre to an almost black outer edge, constantly changing character depending on the light. Combined with gilt applied markers, it creates a surprisingly rich and sophisticated appearance that elevates the watch far beyond what its modest price tag might suggest. The vintage-inspired Bakelite bezel and beautifully polished case complete the package, giving the watch a charm that many larger manufacturers struggle to achieve.
Like the best enthusiast-led watches, the Tropic Diver is about more than specifications alone. Plenty of watches can boast similar numbers on paper. What makes this one stand out is the execution. It feels as though every design decision was made by people who genuinely enjoy watches rather than by a marketing department. With only 300 examples produced and Evant remaining a relatively obscure name outside enthusiast circles, opportunities to acquire one do not come around particularly often.

The watch is in excellent condition with no issues of note.
The watch is currently fitted to a NATO and comes with three further Evant leather straps.
